Asset tokenization is the process of digitally representing an asset, right, or obligation using tokens on a programmable infrastructure. The token is not automatically the original asset: the relationship between the two must be defined, documented, and maintained by an operational model.
The project must clarify who issues, who can receive, which rights the token represents, how transfers occur, and which events change the backing. These questions are as important as choosing a technical standard or a network.
In contexts such as receivables, real estate, energy, or agriculture, tokenization may involve documents, registries, agents, custodian, and specific rules. The use of technology does not eliminate legal, operational, or disclosure obligations.
A tokenization assessment should compare benefits and costs with traditional alternatives. The right path is the one that improves a real need without creating greater complexity than the problem you intend to solve.
